AMEE TEL SIG – Join the conversation

We had a good turn out for the open AMEE TEL Committee meeting at this year’s AMEE’s conference in Vienna and this post is a follow-up to help continue the engagement. Whilst AMEE are working away on developing their new membership platform we can use this space to help us connect and keep the conversation going.

As we discussed at the meeting, the TEL Committee is working on a webinar series as part of AMEE’s MedEdWorld and we already have some topics and speakers lined up. We’re looking at a slightly different format with 3 or 4 speakers to help give insights on a topic from different contexts and cultures. This approach seems to chime with the members at the meeting who highlighted the role that culture plays in the adoption and use of technology, particularly when it comes to social media. It’s perhaps no surprise then that the use of social media came up as a topic that people would like to collectively look at. There was also some discussion about how we can work together with students and whether we can link up with AMEE student members. We’ll follow-up on this. It was also clear that people have stories to share about their use of technology and we’d be pleased to have people send us their stories and post them here on Open MedEd Practice as holding place until AMEE’s new platform is in place.

So the AMEE TEL Committee would love to hear from the AMEE community. If you have ideas for things that we should be championing or addressing let us know via the comments or contact us via the Ask a Question page and we can follow-up with you. We’d also very much welcome ideas for future TEL related AMEE workshops and to collaborate with members on developing these. Let us know what topics you’d like covered in webinars and podcasts and whether you want these to focus on how to use technology and digital approaches or whether you want us to debate some of the hot topics relating to digital, the darker side of technology and also do some horizon scanning. We’d also like to hear from you if you’d like to contribute to podcasts, posts on this website and any other activities that the Committee are co-ordinating.

Hopefully we can keep the conversation going here and on Twitter by tagging tweets with #AMEETEL.
